APPLY
If you think you may have a suitable site for one of our free micro-hydro turbines, simply apply online or call us with your name, address and preferred method of payment for the site survey. Your detals will be added to our database, and you will be contacted within 2 weeks to arrange a survey of your site. Please note that our initial roll-out covers mainland Scotland only.
SITE SURVEY
On the agreed date, one of our site surveyors will carry out a full energy survey of your property and assess it's suitability for our free micro-hydro turbines. You will be given a copy of the site survey report within 30 days of the survey being carried out.
DECISION
We will use the site survey results to ascertain whether your site is suitable for one of our free micro-hydro turbines. If it is, we will let you know what size and type of turbine we intend to install.
PERMISSION
We will assist those requiring permission from their local Planning Office, Landlord or the Environment Agency where appropriate.
SWITCH SUPPLIERS
At this time, we would ask you to switch electricity suppliers to our preferred supplier, Scottish Hydro Electric, if you are not already a customer of theirs. Scottish Hydro Electric will arrange to change your supply meter to an Import/Export meter, at no cost to you.
INSTALLATION
Once we have received confirmation that your meter has been changed, we will schedule the installation of your free micro-hydro turbine.
FREE ELECTRICITY
Once comissioned, you are welcome to use as much of the Free Electricity produced by our micro-hydro turbine as you like, thus reducing your bills significantly.
MAINTENANCE
We will ask you to carry out some basic checks of our hydro turbine on a daily/weekly basis, to ensure it is operating properly. We will maintain our micro-hydro turbine throughout, and will replace any worn parts completely free of charge.
